Annual PTA Meeting in Queens: Wednesday, March 29

The annual PTA Meeting in Flushing, Queens will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. The topic is Navigating Conflict Successfully

Hunter College High School consulting psychologist Dr. Alison Ferst and HCHS Principal Dr. Tony Fisher will facilitate a conversation with PTA members on how to guide and support students to navigate conflict, develop effective conflict resolutions and hone communication strategies to prepare them for having productive conversations even when emotions run high.

7:00 - 9:00 pm
St. George's Episcopal Church, Community Room
135-32 38th Avenue, Flushing, NY
(Enter through the 38th Ave. side entrance)

How do students best engage with a teacher, administrator or coach about something they experience as unfair?
How do they confront friends about behavior that concerns or upsets them?
How can we encourage self-awareness and emotional and social intelligence in order to be as successful as possible, in and out of school?

Being assertive while staying open minded and reflective is hard at any age. Bring your questions and ideas families can use to support their gifted children.

A free, round-trip bus leaves Hunter at 6 pm and returns to Hunter after the meeting ends at 9 pm.  Parents who are planning to take the bus must RSVP to Yunzhong Shu at bus@hunterpta.org; space is limited so first come, first served.  Please let him know by noon on Tuesday, March 28th if you plan to ride in just one direction (HCHS to Queens) or need a round trip.

Refreshments will be provided at the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you in Flushing!
