Special Screening of "Brooklyn Castle" on Friday, Nov. 16

The movie Brooklyn Castle (www.brooklyncastle.com) is an amazing documentary focusing on the chess team at I.S. 318, an inner-city junior high in Brooklyn that has won more national championships than any other, despite a student population with more than 60% living below the poverty line. You may remember that I.S. 318 faced down the HCHS team for the first-place trophy at the 2012 U.S. Chess Federation National High School Competition. There will be a special screening of the film for HCCS families: Friday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Film Society of Lincoln Center, 165 West 65th Street, Manhattan; discounted ticket price: $9 (mention Hunter at the box office). A Q&A with I.S. 318 coach and students will follow. Please click here for the flyer.
