Exams and End-of-School-Year Schedule

The school posts exam schedule and next year school calendar at the end of the current school year on the school website Important Documents section.

The last day of classes in 2011 is June 14. Final Exams for certain subjects, as well as Regents Exams for 9th and 10th graders, will be held through June 23. A schedule of those Exams is generally released in February or March, and parents should not plan vacations or other activities for students until they have received that schedule. 7th and 8th-graders will be finished by Friday, June 17th, unless they are in 9th-grade level classes, in which case they may have final exams later.

The content of Midyear and Final Exams is dependent on the teacher. Especially in Grades 7 and 8, the testing is quite variable: Some classes have Midterms and Finals, some don't; some Exams are just like any other test, some are more cumulative. The school creates an Exam calendar to try to keep teachers from scheduling multiple big tests on a single day, but just because a subject is listed doesn't mean the students will have an Exam in that class. Remind your child to pay close attention to each teacher's instructions; there is no centralized listing of each class's exact testing process or schedule.
