March 26 PTA Meeting: Helping Our Kids Cope with Stress

Come learn more about how students best cope with pressures in a challenging academic environment at 7 on March 26 at the PTA's next meeting in Queens.  Our panel will feature social worker Kit Ho, Assistant Director of the Mental Health Bridge Program Charles B. Wang Community Health Center; Rong Xiaoqing, journalist for the Sing Tao Daily and author of the recent article about stress in New York City's specialized high schools; psychologist Alison Ferst; as well as student presenters.  As always, we welcome your questions for the presenters in advance.  Please send them to PTA Programming Chair Hayley Gorenberg at programming@hunterpta.org. A free round trip bus leaves Hunter at 6 pm and returns to Hunter after the meeting ends at 9 pm.  Parents and students who are planning to take the bus must RSVP to Yun Zhong Shu at bus@hunterpta.org; space is limited so first come, first served.  Please let him know if you plan to ride in just one direction (HCHS to Queens) or need a round trip.
 
Via Mass Transit:
Subway: Take #7 (express when available) subway to its end station at Main St. station and exit at the intersection of the Roosevelt Ave. and Main St., Flushing. Get out from any exit of the intersection, find Main St. Follow Main St. northward toward the Queens Crossing Mall for one block. You will find 39th Ave. intersect with Main St. Turn right onto 39th Ave. and walk eastward about 1/2 block. You will see the 139-18 building's lobby and go to 6th Fl. Buses from Queens: Take the Q12, Q13,Q14, Q15, Q16, Q17, Q20, Q25, Q26, Q27, Q28, Q34, Q44, Q48, Q58 or Q65 to the Main Street Stop and then follow the Subway directions. 

Driving Directions: Municipal parking lot is across the street from the Senior Center. Bring quarters for the Muni meter.

From Hunter: 
Take RFK/Triboro Bridge to Grand Central Parkway.
Get off at Exit 9E (I678/Rte 25A East /Northern Boulevard). Exit onto Northern Boulevard,
At the third light, make a right turn at Union Street,
At the seventh light, make a right turn at Sanford Ave,
At the second light, make a right turn at Main Street,
At the sixth light, make a right turn at 39th Ave,
Senior Center is half way down the block on your right, across the street from the municipal parking lot

Driving from points West or South:
You can also take the LIE East to Main Street Exit. Make a left turn onto Main Street (traveling north) for a couple of miles and make a right turn onto 39th Ave.Senior Center is half way down the block on your right, across the street from the municipal parking lot.

Driving from points North and the Bronx:
Take the Whitestone Bridge (right lane) to the Whitestone Expressway;
take the Linden Place exit; go straight and turn left to College Point Boulevard.
At the third light, make a left turn and drive along the Northern Blvd underpass.
At the third light, make a right turn at Union Street,
At the seventh light, make a right turn at Sanford Ave,
At the second light, make a right turn at Main Street,
At the sixth light, make a right turn at 39th Ave,
