MOSAIC Event: Alicia Lombardo Maher, M.D., Nov. 15 at 8:30 am

HCHS Mosaic Committee Presents:

Alicia Lombardo Maher, M.D.

November 15th at 8:30 am in the HCHS Cafeteria

Dr. Maher will be sharing her ideas for how we parents can help implement tools to improve emotional literacy—the capacity to view the world through others’ eyes—in our schools, community spaces and homes. We’ll hear about exercises and thought experiments that help students build bridges for our Diversity in the Arts Evening. Mosaic is committed to having difficult conversations surrounding important issues of the day.

"Our species is brilliant at bridging divides in science and technology, but we're terrible at bridging divides between one another. Our identities get in the way. We fight or we flee, not because we're bad, but because we're human. With insight, education, and hard work over a long period of time, homo sapiens can change that dynamic. We can change our brain wiring (our neuroplasticity), refine the sapiens aspect of our nomenclature ('be wise'), and move forward.”  —Alice Lombardo Maher, M.D.

This talk will be geared toward HCCS parents and administration.
