Summer Sports Programs at Hunter

There are two different Athletic Programs open to all students of the summer enrichment program and outside students.  You can to sign up for one week and/or the entire program.  Spots are very limited and will not be reserved until we receive the check.

SELECTION ONE:  SUMMER ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM - open to students from grades 3-12 (click "read more" to see details)

SELECTION TWO:  BASKETBALL CAMP - open to students from grades 6-12 (click "read more" to see details)

Registration is required for both programs.  Please email npotter@hccs.hunter.cuny.edu to register - you will receive a notice of confirmation. The subject of the email should read:  SUMMER ATHLETIC PROGRAM @ HCCS: CHILD’S FIRST NAME AND LAST NAME INITIAL

SELECTION ONE

6th Annual

ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM @ HUNTER COLLEGE CAMPUS SCHOOLS

 

Participants: 3rd to 12th grade students

(Minimum Enrollment 10 Participants)

 

Place:  ATHLETIC FACILITIES OF HCCS

Hunter Gym, weight room, courtyard, Central Park

 

Dates:  July 2 - 27, 2018

Times:  2:30-5:30PM

Price:  $250 per week ($200 for July 2,3,5)

 

OPEN TO ALL SKILL AND FITNESS LEVELS

 

Prepare for ANY Sporting Activity, including

Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Lacrosse, Racquet Sports, Soccer, Softball,

Swimming, Track & Field, Volleyball

 

* TOURNAMENT PLAY:  Putting your skills into action

* STRENGTH:  Weight training, calisthenics, resistance tubing, manual resistance, etc.

* SPEED & AGILITY:  Speed drills, plyometrics, hurdle training, ladder drills, etc.

* CORE:  Abdominal and lower back exercises to increase strength and flexibility

* BODY MECHANICS:  Understanding elements of Kinesiology and efficient movement

* FOOTWORK:  Proper alignment and position to maximize efficiency and speed

* FLEXIBILITY:  Increasing range of motion

* INJURY PREVENTION:  Taking proactive measures to reduce risks

* IN-GAME STRATEGY:  Adjusting to changing conditions

* REHABILITATION & REST:  Listening to the signals your body is giving you

* SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY:  The game within the game

* TEAMWORK:  Getting the best from yourself and your teammates

* TIME MANAGEMENT:  Finding time for academics and athletics

 

SELECTION TWO

SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP @ HUNTER COLLEGE CAMPUS SCHOOLS

You must have two years of basketball experience to attend the camp

 

Participants:  6th to 12th grade students (including entering 6th graders)

The basketball camp will only accept the first 15 students who register.

Place:  Hunter Gym

Dates:  July 16-19 and July 23-26

Times:  2:30-5:30PM

 

Price:  $250 per week (if you register for two weeks, the cost is $475)
